Sometimes, you just want something special to take to a shin-dig. Â This weekend, my mom invited us to celebrate David’s birthday at her house. Â We also received an invitation from David’s mom for an Easter celebration at her house. Â We are bringing some devilled eggs, but I also wanted to try some cilantro lime shrimp cocktail.
However, since both of their homes offer limited seating space and most people want to walk around and visit while snacking, I wanted to make something a little more portable on the feet and decided to try them with pipettes. Â They turned our really cute, so I wanted to share it with you.
Some notes: Â Yes – I rarely make anything from a jar anymore, but I did buy store-bought cocktail sauce for this *gasp*. Â If you do the same, find one that has lots of flavor. Â You will need to thin it out so the pipette can suck it up and the more flavor the better. Â Basically, I make my favorite cilantro lime shrimp recipe. Â I was going to grill, but the weather didn’t cooperate – oven it was. Â Next, I suck up the thinned out cocktail sauce and skewer the shrimp with it.
Special equipment for Cilantro Lime Shrimp Cocktail Pipettes
Fuzion Cookware Small Flavor Injectors
I found these Fuzion Cookware Small Flavor Injectors are perfect for the job.  They come in small and large.  They are recyclable and BPA free.
The small are great for this cilantro lime shrimp recipe.  I want to try making Caprese on a pipette, too.  In fact, for our Halloween party, I am thinking about doing strawberries and filling the pipettes with Baileys!  Or Halloween themed cupcakes with chocolate liquor.
I haven’t ever used them before and I feel inspired to try all kinds of different recipes.
Bake for 8-10 minutes until shrimp is lightly pink.
Meanwhile, strain cocktail sauce to remove as much solid as possible and thin with 50/50 water and vinegar until consistency allows pipette to suck up liquid. If tastes too watery, add a dash of worcestershire sauce.
Use pipettes to suck up cocktail sauce until all pipettes are full.
Allow shrimp to cool till you can handle it without getting burned.
!Tip: I found it easier to fill all the pipettes, but to immediately insert pipette after drilling hole - the hole is hard to find if you try to do this assembly line style.
Poke a hole in the edge of shrimp with a toothpick
