So, in my search to rebuild my fall fashion wardrobe, do you know what I’ve noticed? Â Lots of bold colors – and lots of shoulders. Â The 2016 fall fashion line-up pulls a page from the ’80’s playbook. Â A quick Google search for 2016 fall fashion trends for tops reveals pouty-lipped models bearing perfectly toned shoulders. Do you know what that means? Â You can’t throw on your favorite comfy sweater and toss aside your fitness goals. Â Time to build and maintain sexy, strong shoulders.

Of course, I advocate round-the-year fitness for the excellent health benefits, but sometimes motivation requires more than intangible long-term benefits, right? Â Who doesn’t want to look sexy in their favorite off-the-shoulder number at upcoming holiday parties? Â However, strong shoulders have several positive health benefits, too!
Benefits of Strong Shoulders
-
Prevent shoulder injuries.
The shoulder joint is the most unstable joint in the body, making it more injury prone. Â The part of the bone that fits into the joint is larger than the joint itself. Â Keeping it healthy helps maintain the shoulder’s stability.
-
Day-to-Day Living
We involve our shoulders in almost every life activity. Â When we reach for an item, pick up groceries, shake hands, or get dressed, these movements involve the shoulders and upper arms. Â Inadequate strength limits daily functioning.

Looking Good Hollywood!
Sexy, strong shoulders look amazing! Â I think that’s why this year’s fall fashion report has models bearing their shoulders for one last hurrah before the winter chill sets in.
So, what’s your motivation for strong shoulders? Â Do you want to attend the next sexy shoulder convention? Â I’m not sure there is such a thing. Â If not, we should so start one! Â Or do you want to lift your kids with less worry about injuring your rotator cuff? Â I have a quick workout to help you get started!
What you need
You will need a set of resistance loop bands for this workout.  I am using these Starwood Sports Resistance Bands from Amazon.  They are durable, snap resistant, and come with a convenient storage case so you can quickly toss them right into your gym bag.
These loop bands also come with a lifetime guarantee.
The set comes with four bands representing four different levels of resistance. Â From left-to-right, black is the strongest resistance and green is the lightest. Â Be sure to work with the resistance that is right for you. Â Too much resistance could damage your muscles. However, too little resistance hinders progress.
When learning new moves, though, I do suggest using lighter resistance until you perfect your form.
As always, I am not a doctor or fitness professional. Â My advice isn’t medical advice and shouldn’t be taken as such. Â Consult your doctor or health professional before starting this, or any other, fitness routine to ensure that the moves are right for you.
Thanks to Starwood Sports for the free sample for this video

November 11, 2016 - 12:22 amI use my resistance band (when I can) during yoga. It certainly gives me a good workout! I have broad shoulders by nature so I don’t think I’ll ever be part of the sexy shoulder club. đ

November 10, 2016 - 9:47 amI have an injured shoulder and I’m using a resistance band to help heal it. You got to continue to work through it so it will heal. Immobility can actually be much worse.
Alicia Taylor
November 10, 2016 - 12:25 pmYes. For anyone else reading this – please see a doctor or physical therapist before beginning a treatment routine on your own. Heather, my husband had to have rotator cuff surgery and they gave him a set of bands like this to recover. Immobility is definitely not a good thing.

November 10, 2016 - 12:26 pmHave your doctor ensure you havenât damaged the joint in some way, first, please. This is not meant to fix damage. It’s meant to strengthen healthy shoulders.
